I Appeal To Caesar!

“Yes! And they will beat the men who have families and reduce their food supplies. Caiaphas wants those families paraded into town in chains as examples.” Ezra’s closing remarks strike Amram like hammer blows: “Saul and his men have been assigned to go to Damascus , the most distant city yet! It will be about a five-day journey. The soldiers even now are preparing to leave the day after tomorrow.” * * * * * “DAMASCUS! The time has come!” “I cannot stay in Jerusalem, I must find my way to Damascus and warn the Christians before Saul and his henchmen arrive!” Amram’s mind screams, “there is no second choice! I must terminate employment!” He then reasons, “I must just leave, quickly and quietly, taking few possessions. Somehow, God will help me walk, ride, or somehow make the journey. I have seen the miraculous transformation of my mother Rachel, I am confident that God can do anything!” He shares his desire with some new friends, also followers of Jesus. One man has a horse, and he generously responds, “Ride the horse as far as Capernaum and then leave it there with my brother who owns it. That will take you halfway, but then you will have to walk or get transportation for the rest of your journey.”

Amram shouts for joy, “Praise God for this answer! I

will start immediately!”
