I Appeal To Caesar!

Saul begins a bold, new crusade to declare Jesus the Jewish Messiah. His zeal and strange terminology, however, become a frustration and nuisance in the synagogues; the Jewish congregants begin to weary of his non-stop enthusiasm, coming to think of him as more of a threat than a blessing. Also, Saul’s enthusiastic but unfamiliar approach to interpreting the prophets is just too new and farfetched for some of the older, more established Jewish believers. His strong references to Jesus as the Son of God or Son of Man sound unfamiliar and unauthorized to many of the dedicated Jewish people. There is an additional problem: behind the scenes, the two remaining Temple soldiers take every opportunity to inflame the attitude of the religious community, as well as keep tabs on the whereabouts of Saul. * * * * * Saul’s life is now in imminent danger: hostility toward him has been fanned into flame by the agents and friends of Caiaphas. For a short while, Saul out-smarts all attempts to seize him, but it is soon apparent that men of the synagogues have been recruited to trap, seize and deliver him back to Caiaphas in Jerusalem.

Then, the most frightening news!

Artemus rushes to Saul and Ananias announcing the latest and most threatening development: the gates of the city are now under constant surveillance! Saul is to be bound and arrested if detected! The authorities have sought out men familiar with Saul’s features and stationed them at the gates
