Days pass into weeks and then into months. The friendship that Saul has with these new friends becomes deep and strong. Saul’s outlook on Jesus as Messiah becomes more solid, balanced and satisfying. He knows that God is helping him, and he realizes how much these two people have assisted him, especially giving a new esteem for women explaining Scripture. * * * * * Something else takes place! Saul finds himself so attracted to Esther that he mentions to Samuel—the consideration of marriage. The rabbi smiles broadly, becomes emotional, and actually shouts for joy! “This is an ordination made in heaven!” Samuel exclaims with arms extended. Hannah rushes into the cave-room rejoicing and jumping for joy! Now, Saul has the pastor’s permission and blessing! However, he feels a bit panicky, he wonders: “How can this possibly come to pass? What do I do now? * * * * * Saul, of course, prays about marriage, feeling no hesitation or sense of error; it certainly seems to be the Lord’s will! One evening while walking Esther home from one of their evening discussions, Saul does the unthinkable! Reaching out, he takes her hand in his. Esther’s hand tightens slightly in his as she suggests, “Do you have something to ask of me?”
