Saul had discussed with Samuel and Esther the possibility of his going to Sinai. At one time it seemed to Saul that he must see and feel the mountain that was so important in the life of Moses and Elijah —he must meet the God of fire himself. For some reason, Saul felt that his understanding of the Law was incomplete without going to Sinai. His happy marriage, however, had put such a trip on an indefinite hold. * * * * * Saul is only one of many wanting to go to Sinai. Through the ages eager souls start this dangerous journey, many of them in fasting, conjuring up vain illusions, some following strange premonitions or spurious visions. The mountain, however, eternally holds a challenge beyond human comprehension, and more than a few have made their graves in that desolate wilderness, unable to find the answers or solutions they seek.
