I Appeal To Caesar!

There is no voice, no vision, no blinding light, no physical reactions, and at times it seems there is no purpose in what he is doing. The idea seems amazing even to Saul, but he wishes to speak directly with Christ for clarification and encouragement. All he knows at this point is an ultimate destination—the Gentile population of the world. “O God,” he prays, “Give me direction!” Weary of unanswered prayers and a mounting frustration about his future, Saul decides the time has come to climb to the top of Sinai to meet with God. “Moses did it, Elijah did it, why not me? I must do this NOW! “I will start early in the morning,” he ponders, “and see how far I can go; surely God will meet with me!” The plan is daunting, and has no alternative: “I must have an answer. Lord, tomorrow morning I will climb the mountain … or, die trying!” * * * * * Located on the peninsula between the horns of the Red Sea, Mt. Sinai is part of two great masses of rock that make up three towering mountains, one of which is Jebel Musa (the Mount of Moses). The Mountain is two miles long and one mile wide, and the peak reaches a height of nearly 8,000 feet. Below the mountain is the open plain where Israel encamped, a smooth camping-ground about two miles long and half a mile wide. He adds a final desperate postscript , “Please Lord, I need your answer!”
