I Appeal To Caesar!

close to the mouth of a cave. Carefully peering into the cave, Saul is grateful to find no occupant: human, animal or reptile!

The sun will soon be gone and the cool air will turn cold. “I need a fire!” he thinks as he shivers, and proceeds to gather dead sticks, weeds, branches and anything burnable. He will spend the night here. Saul pulls a piece of iron and a stone flint from his small travel bag. He is so tired . . . dead tired! He kindles a small fire and draws his lightweight robe tightly around himself, lying as close as possible to the small fire. Immediately he is sound asleep — only to awaken two hours later! Saul is surprised to find the fire burning brightly and the cave warm. Outside, it is very dark, except for the stars and moon, and the cold is beyond description!

Unexpectedly, the figure of a man approaches out of

the darkness.

Startled, a strange feeling sweeps over Saul, he has met

this man before!

“Saul,” the visitor says, “I understand that you wish to

talk to Me.”

* * * * * Saul stares, so shocked his mouth hangs open. He cannot speak, for his mind says his thoughts are completely impossible, but still the premonition persists! Could this possibly be Jesus?
