I Appeal To Caesar!

“Now, our next step: we must find a suitable man to lead in this ‘Purge’ of the unbelievers that would destroy the faith of Abraham and Moses.” * * * * * A blanket of silence drops upon the assembly. . . the awesome reality of the challenge is apparent to all. It is as though every man present is struck dumb! Who could lead such a crusade?

The silence is deafening! Caiaphas . . . waits, letting the apprehension mount!

Many of the men bend over in their seats, looking down or closing their eyes, wondering, hoping, praying, even being fearful of looking up!

A few painful minutes pass, then the silence is broken.

A very slight sound comes from the back of the auditorium: a chair scrapes the floor as it is pushed back. At that certain moment, however, the sound seems like thunder!

Then . . . the sound of firm footsteps; a resolute man is

walking to the front of the assembly! * * * * *

The assembly hears the familiar voice of Saul!

“Although I have met Jesus and been impressed by some of His attributes, I cannot countenance that our living God can be exchanged for Jesus, the Dying God, cursed on the tree. Jesus was a man like the rest of us; undoubtedly a well-intentioned man— but not God !
