Meanwhile, designers keep using outdated schemes… Self-suffi- ciency should be in the DNA of all design disciplines, rebuilding them from scratch. Energy is the new mat- ter. And energy today is starting to move in the same way information does. Internet changed the whole way we interact and the way we share. Citizens are not anymore passive consumers, but active producers connected in a huge network of interchange. This de- centralization of power will produce a totally new way of society. Give people tools – Bill Gates used to say – and you will be surprised. Design shouldn’t just host societies. Instead, design today should em- power them for change.” Кредо: «Мы знаем, как конечна и хрупка наша среда обитания. Энергетический сдвиг неизбежен, и новые технологии использования возобнов- ляемых источников – потенциал для изменения самой идеи урбанистики. Между тем дизайнеры продолжают использовать устаревшие схемы... Самодостаточность должна проникнуть в ДНК всех дисциплин дизайна, переосмыслив их с нуля. Энергия – новая материя. А энергия сегодня меня- ется так же, как и информация. Интернет изменил все – способы нашего взаимодействия и способы, которыми мы делимся. Жители городов более не пассивные пользователи, а активные произ- водители, связанные огромной сетью обменов. Эта децентрализация власти создает совершенно новый путь развития для общества. Дайте людям инструменты, – говорил Билл Гейтс, – и вы удиви- тесь. Дизайн должен не просто принимать обще- ство. Вместе с этим дизайн должен давать ему возможность меняться».
