Ensamble Studio is a multidisciplinary team founded in 2000 on the lookout for new approaches to architectural and urban space, and the technologies that built them. Anton Garcia-Abril and Debora Mesa are architects and principals of Ensamble Studio. The studio is formed by a cross-functional team of architects and engineers with urban- ism and landscape knowledge, in the search for the development of projects through the integral control of the processes, creating a scientific understanding of the architec- tural work. Techniques, history, nature, industry, at global or local scales, are the work- ing tools to achieve a sincere and coherent result. Credo: “1). We work with our hands, we experience. We control the processes better than the results. Because finding the logic in the development makes it harder to be wrong. 2). We go to the origin of the processes, to the raw materi- als, we try to arrive to the essence of the elements and construction systems. We use industry at the service of architecture but not vice versa. 3). We conceive the spaces, design the construction accurately, play with the scale of the building elements to affect the scale of space; and the final form is simply the result of fol- lowing a clear strategy. 4). We move easily in the contradiction. We commute from stressed structures to dense structures, from the small scale of the house to the bigger scale of the city, from reordered nature to prefabricated systems. 5). We do not ignore history, we have studied it and we reread it with every project. 6). And above all, we do. And if we make mistakes, we learn. But the per- severance in doing keeps us alive. Студия сформирована командой разнопрофильных архитекторов и инженеров со знанием градостроительства и ландшафта, ищущих пути создания проектов через интегральное управле- ние процессами и формирование научного понима- ния работ в области архитектуры. Техника, история, природа, промышленность в глобальном и местном масштабах – рабочие инструменты для достижения прямого и понятного результата. Кредо: «1). Мы работаем руками, мы набира- емся опыта. Мы контролируем процесс внима- тельнее, чем результаты. Поскольку если найти логику в развитии, то сложнее допустить ошибку. 2). Мы обращаемся к истокам процессов, к необ- работанным материалам, мы пытаемся добраться до сути элементов и конструкций. Мы используем индустрию для служения архитектуре, но не нао- борот. 3). Мы глубоко и тщательно осмысливаем пространство, разработку конструкций, играем с масштабом строительных элементов, чтобы повлиять на масштабы пространства, и окон- чательная форма является просто результатом последовательной и четкой стратегии. 4). Мы легко работаем с противоречиями. Мы двигаемся от сжатых структур к плотным структурам, от не- больших масштабов дома к большому масштабу города, от переупорядоченной природы до сбор- ных систем. 5). Мы не игнорируем историю, мы изучали ее и переосмысляли для каждого про- екта. 6). И, прежде всего – мы делаем. И если мы совершаем ошибки, мы учимся. Настойчивость поддерживает в нас жизнь. Если у нас нет работы, мы ее придумываем».
