LEADING THE WAY FOR FOOTBALL CLUBS IN EUROPE | No. 1 - 2014/15

//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// NEWSLETTER ////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

FOREWORD ///////////////////////////////////////////

With Real Madrid CF’s victory over Sevilla FC at the UEFA Super Cup in Cardiff, the 2014-15 European club football season officially kicked-off after a well- deserved summer break for club football. Congratulations to Real Madrid CF for adding yet another title to their trophy room! Over the summer, the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil monopolised the attention, with the final triumph of the German National team. ECA seized the opportunity to publish the ECA Player Release Analysis, a research study aimed at highlighting the number and origin of clubs involved in releasing players for the tournament. Unsurprisingly, over 76% of all players involved in the World Cup were registered with European clubs. As for the action off the pitch, and after the traditional and awaited group stage draws in Monaco at the end of the month, the 13 th ECA General Assembly will be held in Geneva on the 8-9 September. This General Assembly is the third of the current cycle and will mark once more the beginning of the season. As usual, the plenary session of Tuesday morning will be preceded by working group meetings, the ECA Football Tournament and the official dinner and ECA Awards on Monday afternoon and evening respectively. All details will be sent to you in the upcoming days. I am already looking forward to seeing you all in Geneva for the start of the new ECA Season!
