The congregation, placed under the care of Father McLaughlin, was small-but most appreciative of having a priest of their own and eager to co-operate with him in every way. It was not long till the parish had a church of its own, small at first, but later enlarged to meet the needs of a fast-growing community. The church was first located on a site one block distant from its present location on the S. East corner of Forty-second and Polk. It remained on that location till 1927. In that year, while Rev. In 1927, also under the able direction of Father Lynn, supported of course by the self-sacrifice of an zealous congregation, the school and convent were erected and the Sacred Heart Parish had a group of buildings that any parish may well be proud of.
