Plastic Pipes XVII international conference and exhibition in Chicago

Plastic Pipes XVII, an international conference and exhibition, will be held in Chicago, USA, from 22 to 24 September 2014. Key subject areas will be market issues, pipeline solutions, application areas, material testing and performance. At least 100 individual presentations are scheduled for the event. Stephen Boros, VP Engineering Pipeline Plastics, LLC and chairman of the PPXVII conference, explained that Chicago will be an important event for the industry to share new developments in the field of plastic pipe technology and use. “Low cost, ease of installation, sustainability and long-term performance advantages of plastic pipes continue to propel the industry towards greater global demand in all application sectors. Worldwide expectations for a six per cent annual growth in their use over the next few years are now viewed as

conservative given the overwhelming trend for replacement of antiquated competing pipe materials. “Increasing demand in energy sectors such as oil and gas gathering and gas distribution, as well as replacement of older failing water and sewer systems, is driving much of this growth. This demand is also promoting further development of plastic-based composite piping systems for very high pressures, and new materials such as high performance polyethylene compounds and manufacturing techniques such as bi-oriented PVC technology.” Conference audiences are Shut-off valves, check valves and combined shut-off check valves under the Exentromat brand name have over 50 years of tradition at Alfred Konrad Maschinenfabrik GmbH. The success of the valves was the consequence of the series production of metallic seals and the resulting double eccentric locking geometry. Konrad Armaturentechnik GmbH has continued its business at the same location under its managing partner, Dipl -Ing (FH) Lutz Löbardt, since April 2010. The company’s valves are manufactured exclusively as welded structures, which allows for a wide variety of possible materials

in comparison to conventional cast iron valves. Nominal sizes range from DN 100 to DN 2000. Different flange connections are available, as are wafer check valves or welded valves. The overall length is manufactured as standard in accordance with EN 558-1, series 14, but special lengths are also available to meet customer requirements. Metallic seals can also be provided for different pressure and/or temperature requirements, in addition to different elastomer materials.
