Demagnetising large steel products Goudsmit Magnetic Systems has expanded its range of demagnetising systems with the launch of a series of large format demagnetising tunnels. to the 100 per cent duty cycle combined with a demagnetising generator.

that can also be used in locations that are difficult to access. By making use of this service, it is possible to demagnetise without acquiring expensive equipment and, if necessary, with the assistance and expertise of specialists. For these continuous processes, the demagnetising tunnels can be supplied with a conveyor belt or a roller belt with an optional speed regulator. Demagnetisation on-site is also an option, and this has been expanded with a lightweight demagnetising generator

The tunnels, with corresponding demagnetising generators, have been developed and tested in-house and are intended for products with a diameter of 2,000mm.

Since production work must be increasingly accurate and efficient, the requirements set for residual magnetism are also increasing. This residual magnetism causes problems in welding, with the result that the quality and quantity of such work are diminished. Bymaking use of the recently developed demagnetising tunnel, the production process can proceed uninterrupted. The first series of the ‘giga’ demagnetising tunnels is intended for the demagnetisation of gas transport pipes in Russia. The new demagnetising tunnels are also suitable for small connected, long or endless products such as steel wire. This is due, in part,

Digital measurement Pipe and material handling equipment company Sumner Manufacturing has launched the Center Punch for quickly measuring angles and marking pipe.

on the angled base to mark pipe. The inclinometer also includes a ‘zero’ button to reset the angle. Sumner Manufacturing has served the welding and mechanical contracting industry for nearly a half century, creating material lifts, jack stands, pipe fit-up clamps, welding tools and material carts that are used in more than 50 countries around the world, and in numerous industries. “Sumner’s Center Punch introduces a flexible, easy-to-read, easy-to-use tool for marking angle on pipe that has yet to be matched in the industry,” stated Sumner national sales manager Brendan Conway.

The Center Punch includes a digital inclinometer gauge set on an angled base, suitable for measuring angles on pipe. The easy-to-read digital gauge displays angles to the nearest hundredth and is removable from the angled magnetic base. The base contains a push button spring-loaded striking hammer for clearly marking pipe.

“The removable gauge really makes the Sumner Center Punch a 3-in-1 tool.”

The Center Punch is easy to use: set the base on the pipe, turn on the inclinometer gauge and adjust as needed until the desired angle is reached. Pull up the spring-loaded hammer and press the push button
