In this IIW 2021 Digital Collection Category, welded art is a great forum for the formation of groups or networks of people with common interests. Such groups and networks help and encourage people to: • Share diverse perspectives, meaning and purpose, including pooling knowledge and skills • Receive social and emotional support including encouragement, suggestions and advice • Establish a shared identity with other group members, including finding peers to emulate • Increase social connectedness, which has so many benefits for mental health • Help to break down cultural barriers as well as showcase other cultures and belief systems A very good example of such a Group is the “Weld Circus” established by Mattia Bross who featured in our IIW 2020 Digital Collection.
