FABIO FURLAN (Italy)

Fabio comes from the hydraulics branch of engineering. He started welding in his father Aldo's company in 2004 with Manual Metal Arc Welding (MMAW) and oxy-acetylene welding. In 2006, he started to learn to use Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW) and since then has continued to use it. In 2015 he opened his own company Furlan 2.0_Welding and today he has 4 GTAW and MMAW certifications. He started making weldart inspired by his friend Mattia Bross and in 2020 taking advantage of the lockdown he began to make weldart paintings. His style recalls the Japanese and Maori tattoos.

Exhibit “MASCHERA HANJA” The artwork is made on a 400mm x 300mm satin finish stainless steel plate using GTAW welding, incision by tool, painted with metalcolor. The artwork is about Fabio’s passion for tattoos, especially Japanese style. Nowadays the artwork hangs in the study of his favourite tattoo artist. Dimensions 400mm long x 300mm wide Exhibit “POLYNESIAN SKULL” The artwork is made on a 500mm x 400mm satin finish stainless steel AISI 304 sheet using GTAW welding, engraving with a tool and coloured with metalcolor. The subject of the work is inspired by his dear friend Mattia Bross, who used to make Mexican skulls. This work is dedicated to him. Dimensions 500mm long x 400mm Wide
