55 The Royal Arsenal , or TÞihuuss is situate on the south side o f C hristiansborg, adjoining P ro - viantgaarden. It w as b u ilt in 1 6 0 4 , and contains arra s for th e g re ater p a rt o f the arm y. In the a r m o r y , w hich is above 6 0 0 ft. in le n g th , are m an y flags, arm s, and o th er tro p h ies o f th e earlier w ars ; a n d , o f the late r v ic to rie s, a re two Saxon b ra ss can n o n s, cap tu red at D y p p e l, A pril 13th. 1849, besides o th er trop hies tak en during the S le s- w ig -H o lstein W ar. T o m ost o f the B arracks is attached an Exer- eise-yround for the v ario u s divisions o f the A rm y, th e larg est o f w hich is in G othersgade, w here th ere is also an Exercise-house. T h e Laboratory for th e A rtillery is in C hristianshavn a t the back o f F red erik s Church. T h e Powder Magazines are p a rtly on C hristianshavn ra m p a rts , p a rtly on the island o f Am ack. The Depot o f Stores for the a rm y is in R igensgade.
