Impact Stories: The Broader Context

This MIFam* Network works closely and has a strong presence within Sydney’s west community, working with women, families, health and community groups as well as with national and international researchers. While visiting the centre Patricia engaged in focus groups with immigrant women establishing their child health needs within the community. An international delegation from China was also visiting while Patricia was at the Centre and a seminar workshop was organised. Both Patriciia and Prof Ling Ling, School of Nursing, Sun Yat-sen University, Guangzhou, China presented on social suport for new mothers in the postnatal period. There is continuing engagement with this research centre which includes a number of collaborative papers with a view to research grant proposals; return academic visits from Prof Schmied and Dr Elaine Burns.
