Thrive: Supporting Nutrition & Health

Our Goal

Improve access to healthy food for NRV individuals and families in need. Our Progress Explored the barriers to accessing healthy food including high cost and limited availability. Identified a group of NRV leaders whose agencies are effectively and creatively getting healthy foods to people in need. The Power of Unrestricted Giving to…Build Capacity We have the leadership and ideas to meet our goal, but we need unrestricted gifts to implement those ideas on a regional scale so we can: • •

Surveyed over 50 nonprofits, schools, and libraries to see whether and how they work together to serve children. Held community-wide workshops to identify common challenges and actionable steps our region can take to address those challenges.

The Power of Unrestricted Giving to…Make Connections

Unrestricted gifts help us connect early education leaders to one another to help:

Develop shared systems for multiple hunger relief agencies to distribute healthy food at lower cost. Link local growers to agencies to expand access to nutritious foods.

Make childcare and afterschool enrichment programs more accessible and affordable. Raise the overall quality of early childhood programs. Improve coordination and communication among organizations.
