Brodhead BRODHEAD CHAMBER brodheadchamber.com 608.897.8411

If you want to get lost in nature, or go back in time to relive history, or just enjoy some family fun – then Brodhead is the place to be! Some of Brodhead's busiest volunteers have worked many

hours to establish the Pearl Island Recreational Corridor. From bird watching to biking, and fishing to hiking, there are so many ways to enjoy some “island time.” A map on page 31 will get you started. The Sugar River State Trail is right nearby. Brodhead's history is best explained with a visit to the restored depot downtown – home to the Brodhead Historical Society. Start there, and then explore some options to sip, savor, and shop. Check out 608 The Factory (home décor, scents, apparel), Pinnow Hometown Pharmacy (home décor, gifts), and Gunny&Co (hand-poured candles, wax melts, dip mixes). It's Bridges Bar & Grill for family favorites and Friday Fish Fry; Rock n Rollz for salads, sandwiches and pizza; Villa Pizza Inn for pizza, pasta; and Public Houzz (farm to table, specialty cocktails). Piggly Wiggly has a great selection of food to go. Brodheadchamber.com has a complete list of members. When it comes to community spirit, the Brodhead Chamber of Commerce leads the way with signature events like Family Fest in June (tons of free games and entertainers for kids, live music, food and fireworks), or Autumnfest in October (chili cookoff contest, pumpkin decorating, trick or treat and costume parade). There's also Covered Bridge Days in August with tractor pulls and shows, pontoon boat rides, and the Wild Flower Art Festival. Check out the big-name entertainment: returning favorite Madison County and new – Bella Cain, with hot top country hits. And nothing kicks off the holiday season better than Brodhead's Fire and Ice Festival in December. Chainsaw artists carve ice, fire twirlers spin flaming sticks, kids decorate cookies, and there's also a lighted parade and fun contests for kids and adults. The popular Twilight in the Park concert series offers up a variety of musical genres, with shows downtown in Veterans Park every Sunday evening from June 18 through August 13. Fun stops just outside of town: Decatur Dairy – amazing grilled cheese sandwiches, fresh curds, award-winning cut-to-order cheese; Ten Eyck Orchard – apples, pumpkins, honey; Kelch Aviation Museum – step back in time to the golden age of aviation; and Three Waters Reserve – explore the nature trails.
