DAYS 1-5 THE PHILIPPINES Embark in Hong Kong and sail across the South China Sea to the Philippines. Landing on Luzon, head to Vigan and its historical district of Spanish-colonial houses, and enjoy excursions including swimming, exploring waterfalls, and an island hike. On Sabtang Island, enjoy cultural encounters and a nature walk. DAYS 6-11 ISLANDS OF JAPAN Cruising the Japanese islands of the East China Sea, you’ll meet villagers whose way of life is changed little from bygone times, see historical relics including Shuri Castle at Okinawa, the residence of the Ryukyu royal family for over 400 years, swim at beautiful white-sand beaches, and enjoy nature walks on Yakushima, whose forest park is a World Heritage site. Disembark in Nagasaki.
DAYS 8-16 SAKHALIN ISLAND TO TOKYO Explore Sakhalin’s capital city, Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, or enjoy a day of birding. Search for minke, orca, and sperm whales while transiting the Nemuro Channel. Explore Shikotsu-Toya National Park, then visit Senshu Park, built from the ruins of Kubota Castle, a former samurai fortress. Disembark in Niigata, return to Tokyo, and depart.
