SEPTEMBER 2014 BEACON

NCYC General Membership Meeting Minutes Page 8 of 9

Good of the order:

Dinner tickets for tonight's Steer Roast are still available. Please pick up your tickets before dinner to avoid confusion, see Patti Archibald.

PC Harley Burris stated that he has one weekend open in September. Your help to fill this position would be greatly appreciated.

Rae Ann Whyard asked if there were any plans to replace the awning in the East Harbor. Commodore John stated that there are no current plans to replace the awning at this time due to the expense of the awnings. The board is looking for input on ideas for shade in the East Harbor. Chaplain, Art Brooks, wanted to let the new members know that if you need to send a fan out to the membership, just send me an email and I will get the fan out sent. Also, for your convenience, there is a list of the churches in the Algonac area on the bulletin board. Larry Geirlowski requested that we have a small refrigerator in one of the rooms upstairs for medication or special dietary needs. He also thanked the membership for all the cards for his recent illness. Dave Lockhart stated that in years past, a member had to come up on Wednesday of a holiday weekend to get a well. Now it seems more important to come early to get a parking spot on the mainland. He wanted to remind everyone that this is a yacht club. He also stated that he felt the discrepancy in the bar area seemed to be taken lightly by the membership. Kim Miedema, Chairman of the Marketing Committee stated that their mission is to get new members. Any ideas would be appreciated, such as why you joined the club and what you like about being a member. She wanted everyone to ask their friends to join. We will have passes for prospective members for a free night stay, with one paid night, and also one free drink ticket. Pat Adams commented that the screens on the windows are in bad shape, and don't seem to fit properly.

Bob Swan wanted to let everyone know that we now have 101 paver stones. If you are interested in a stone, please contact Bob.
