Africa at Pilot Crushtec International, says the company offers a variety of its own and Metso screens. “Our focus is on offering a fixed range of models that covers most aggregate requirements and supplied complete on skid frames to minimise installa- tion costs and times,” he says. Pilot range Pilot Crushtec International’s range starts with entry level DD2412 and DD3615 models which are double deck, 2-bearing inclined screens available for both dry and wet appli- cations. These are multifunctional screens for general purpose with a wide variety of media options avail- able. Mostly supplied ex-stock, they are locally manufactured and have been used in projects throughout Africa for the past 20 years. The DD2412 and DD3615 are secondary or tertiary screens that can take a feed size of up to 150 mm and are assembled on site in one to two days. A key feature, apart from the wide variety of media that can be used, is the variable angle and reversible action. This is a big plus for operators as the screening charac- teristics can be changed by adding or removing weights on the weighted shaft, by reversing the screen throw (which increases retention time) and by varying the screen angle. “We have used them very suc- cessfully in projects where high specification filter sands with tight product curves are required. All these factors can assist in ensuring the final product is within specification (in combination with adjusting the crushing circuit),” explains Abelho. Pilot Crushtec also offers a mod- ular scalping screen, the MaxiScalp 600, which is designed for large volume separation of material into large, medium and small products. The screen is fed by an apron feeder, so it can handle a feed size of up to 600 mm (at a specific gravity of 1,6 t/m³). “The difference between a scalper and a screen is down to the throw, which is much longer on a scalper, making it more suitable for large aperture sizes. Typically supplied with Bofor bars on the top deck, these units are used extensively in various aggregate and mining applications where large volumes of

can be used in sand, aggregate, top soil, compost, mining and recycling applications. McCloskey R-Range screens can be used for separat- ing large, heavy material at high production rates in applications such as mining, quarrying, recycling and demolition, among others,” says Sukdhoe. Waylon Kukard, sales manager at Wirtgen South Africa, says the com- pany offers scalper and classifying screens in its Kleemann range. “The scalper is mainly for primary screen- ing of material +600 mm feed size in order to remove fine material before entering a crusher. The classifying screen is for final screening of differ- ent products according to the grading curve (-150 mm feed),” says Kukard. Fernando Abelho, head of sales for

different sizes. Horizontal screens are also used for secondary and tertiary screening but provide higher production rates than incline screens and deliver more efficient screening because the material stays on the deck for longer. “Finlay’s Spaleck units are specific to recycling and screening wet, sticky or clay materi- als. Spaleck technology enables spe- cific screening in tough applications,” says Ravenscroft. Rasheel Sukdhoe, product manager of the McCloskey Crushing, Screening, Stacking and Washing range at HPE Africa, says the Canadian original equipment manu- facturer offers high-energy inclined

and scalping vibrating screens. “McCloskey S-Range screens are mainly used as sizing screens and
