First All-Star Game Appearance , 2007–2008 After an outstanding rookie campaign, Paul was named to his first NBA All-Star appearance as a member of the New Orleans Hornets in the 2007–2008 season. He was a representative of the Western Conference squad that also featured Tim Duncan (San Antonio Spurs), Kobe Bryant (LA Lakers), and Allen Iverson (playing in his ninth All-Star game as a member of the Denver Nuggets). The Western squad that Paul played on as a reserve was coached by Hornets head coach Byron Scott. He scored 16 points, along with 14 assists and four steals in the game that was played at New Orleans Arena on February 17, 2008.

Paul participated in the skills competition as a warm-up to his first All-Star appearance in his career in 2008.
