(b) T h a t, if the Society had not received an applic- ation from the Solicitor entitling him to issue of his Practising Certificate for that year or the required Accountants' Certificate (as the ease m i g ht be) by 31st Ma r ch in that year, his n ame wo u ld a p p e ar in a list of Solicitors (to be published in the L aw Societv's Ga z e t te at the first opportunity thereafter) in respect of w h om no Practising Certificates for that year were in force and w h o accordingly were not entitled to act as Solicitors. (c) T h a t if 1 íe c o n t i nu ed to practise after the 31st Ma r ch of that year w i t h o ut b a s i ng a Practising Cer- tificate in force, the Society wo u ld lie c omp e l l ed to mo ve to have the Solicitor prosecuted u n d er Section 55 of the Solicitors' Acts 1954-60 for a c t i ng as a Solicitor whilst being in fact unqualified to d o so.

PRACTISING CERTIFICATES I

The purpose is to ensure that — (a) T h a t Solicitors obliged to do so will take out their Practising Certificates each year, and (b) T h a t Solicitors' Ac c o un t a n t s' Certificates at no time b e c ome more than 12 mo n t hs in arrear. 1. In early Ma r ch of e a ch year, the Society will prepare a list of those Solicitors :- (i) W h o had not applied to the Society for the issue of a Practising Certificate by the last day of February in that year, and (ii) Wh o se Accountants' Certificates were on the last clay of February in that year mo re than six mo n t hs in arrear. 2. The Society wo u ld then write to each Solicitor on the list i n f o rmi ng him :- (a) Either that no application had been received from him for his Practising Certificate or that delivery of his Ac c o un t a n t s' Certificate was six mo n t hs or mo re in arrear, and (in the ease of the Solicitor wh o se Accounts' Certificate was in arrear) that the Society
