2. ORGANISATION AND METHODS OF WORK.

From its establishment, Mr. A. LEROY (France) has been Chairman of Commission VII. ince he was appointed Scientific and Technical Secretary of the IIV\ in 1950, he is in an advantageous position for carrying out the neces– sary liaison work, both with the technical Commissions and with the Governing and Executive Councils of the II\i\T. In addition to the meetings organised on the occasion of t he annual assem– blies of the IIW, the Commission sometimes holds an intermediary meeting between assemblies if this is made necessary by the evolution of the work of the IIW and of ISO. The members of Commission \'II, whether delegates or experts, are often associated with the work done by the other Commissiqns of the IrW and are fairly often required in various capacities to participate in the \Nork of ISO and in particular of the Committee ISO/TC 44 « Welding » and its ' uh-Committees. In particular, the Chairman of Commission VII bas been asked to preside at the four plenary meetings of ISO/TC 44 \vhich have been held since this Committee was set up. As a result of a suggestion of Commission \'II and of an agreement between the IIW and ISO, an ISO observer attends meetings of the Commission, a repre– sentative of the General Secretariat of the Committee I O/TC 44 having usually been appointed over the last few years. Conversely, the IIW can appoint, to attend meetings of I SO Committees and Sub-Committees, observers who make known its views, comment where necessary on the working documents and give information about the possibilities offered by the IIW in the investigation of the matters under discussion. These observers may he either a member of the Executive Council of the IIvV, a member of Commission VII or a member of one of the technical Commissions. As regards I SO/TC 44 and its Sub-Committees, the IIW has been represented at their meetings as follows
