sessi@ns. In a sepaTate bookfot are printed a systematic classification table of the *eadings and an alphabetical index. Subscriptions may be taken out either through a certain number of member societies of the IIW or directly from the publisher (1). l\1embers of member societies of the IIW can obtain the Bulletin at a reduced subscription. Inevitably, a periodical of this kind is published at a loss because of the considerable work, and therefore expenditure, entailed in preparing and publish– ing it. Although a subvention is granted by UNESCO through the intermediary of the Union of International Engineering Organisations (UATI), of which the II\V is a member, the deficit remains substantial and has been met up to the present by the French welding organisations. But the value of this bibliograph– ical periodical for all welding technicians and engineers is such that its publication has been continued in spite of the financial difficulties resulting from it. Not only does the Bulletin make it possible to have methodically classified information about technical publications as and when they appear, but it also considerably simplifies and hastens searches for essential documentary sources in the technical literature on a given subject. b) Multilingual Collection ofTermsforWeldingand Allied Processes. Commission VI (Terminology) of the IIW has undertaken the preparation of a Mult·il-ingual Collection of Terms for Welding and Allied Processes . This work is described in part n ;· which contains reports on the activity of the Commissions. The Collection of T erms is published in sections, publication being undertaken on behalf of the II\V by the << Association Suisse pour la Technique du Soudage » (2) . Through the intermediary of the Union of International Enginee ring Organisations (UATI), a subvention for this work is receiv ed from UNESCO, \>vhich is anxious to support work tending to facilitate techni cal understanding between all countries. Two sections of the Collection of T erms have so far appeared : Gas Welding (340 terms in ten languages) published in 1953· - General Terms - Welding Procedure, Characteristics and Inspection of \i\Telds (360 terms in t welve languages) published in 1955· A second eclition of the « Gas Welding n section has just appeared ; with it is published a separate booklet containing the same terms in the Yugoslavian languages (Serbo-Croat and Slovenian). In addition , a third section is now at press. It deals with arc welding and will be in t welve languages. Further sections will follow, the first of which will deal with resistance welding. These various publications can be supplied by the majority of the member societies of the IIW and by the publisher (3). c) Collection of Reference Radiographs of Welds . Commission V (Testing, Measurement and Control of Welds) of the IIW has undertaken the compilation of a Collection of R eference Radiographs of Welds showing t ypical defects (4) . The purpose of this Collect·ion, which was made up by the Commission from t ypical radiographs supplied by its members, is to serve as a guide to all those who have to carry out non-destructive inspection by radiography on welded assemblies. The IIVV has made responsible for the publication of this Collection a group of organisations dealing with inspection : - Svejsecentralen, Denmark; - Rontgen Technische Dienst, Netherlands; (1) Publisher : «Les Publications de la Souclure Autogene », 39, rue cl ' _-\msterdam, Paris Se.
