Building Energy with Leadership!

1509 Wilson Terrace 818-409-8100

It was another successful, re-energizing day of collaboration, education and skill building! In mid- June, over 400 leaders from the Adventist Health Southern California Region (AHSCR) assembled together once again at the Pasadena Convention Center for the second of three Leadership Development Institute of Southern California (LDISC) events for 2017. The morning started off with exceptional Studer Group keynote speaker, Jackie Gaines , MS, RN, who presented, “Wait a Hot Minute – How to Manage Your Life with the Minutes You Have,” and taught us the tips and tools we need to better manage time. In the afternoon, teams broke out into ministry-specific sessions, where Adventist Health Glendale (AHGL) President and CEO Kevin A. Roberts gave AHGL leaders a comprehensive update on our back-to-budget plan. At our first LDISC in 2017 we introduced a new recognition program named the ROAR Awards (Recognizing Our Accomplishments Regionally), which includes quarterly traveling awards for quality performance and annual awards for employee engagement. Kudos to Adventist Health Glendale team for receiving the ROAR Award for ‘Most Improved Premium Labor.’ This ROAR award is based on improving premium pay as a percentage of productive salaries. Glendale went from 9.4 percent in Q4 of 2016 to 8.2 percent in Q1 of 2017. Glendale was also awarded for the ‘2017 Spring Leapfrog Award’ for maintaining the 5th consecutive ‘A’ grade. Great work everyone!

Dear AHGL Associates, For the third year in a row, Adventist Health Glendale (AHGL) is embarking on a faith-driven medical mission to deliver life- saving health care to Armenia. With a volunteer team of our own physicians, nurses and technicians, Compassion in Action – “Mission Armenia” will provide medical care to the people of Noyemberyan in mid-September. This small rural area has a population of over 30,000 people who do not have access to vital care for strokes, heart attacks, high-risk maternity cases, infections, facial abnormalities, cataracts and other serious illnesses. AHGL’s team of surgeons will perform life-saving surgeries, and our doctors and nurses will provide medical care for thousands of men, women and children, with no cost to the patients. We will also help local physicians train in new techniques so enhanced medical care in Armenia can be sustained. Local nurses and patients will be educated in the areas of strokes, heart attack care, vaccinations, hypercholesterolemia, diabetes, hypertension, nutrition and parenting. Over the last two years, Compassion in Action—“Mission Armenia” has performed 145 surgeries, over 2,500 patient screenings and medical care interventions. This charitable community service is manned entirely by volunteers who pay for their own transportation and lodging. The fundraising need is for medical and surgical supplies and pharmaceuticals, which totals to about $150,000. You can make this medical mission possible by making a tax-deductible donation to the Healthcare Foundation at Adventist Health Glendale . On behalf of the thousands of patients whose lives you will save and improve, THANK YOU!

Old Friend. New Name – It’s Official!

Adventist Health launched a new system-wide brand earlier this year with an overall strategy to become ONE Adventist Health. The new mission and values truly reflect who we are as ONE health organization, united in purpose. We are forging ahead with a consistent patient experience and standard of care no matter where patients go within our 20-hospital/280-clinic system that serves over 75 communities on the west coast. News! In early July, Glendale Adventist Medical Center in partnership with the California Department of Health (CDPH) legally changed its name to Adventist Health Glendale (AHGL). “With a common Adventist Health name and purpose across all ministries, the work we do to achieve our mission is amplified and more powerful as ONE organization working together,” said Kevin A. Roberts , president and CEO, Adventist Health Glendale. A brand change and launch for a large, multi-state corporation like Adventist Health is completed in phases due to the complexity of the task at hand. Adventist Health Physicians Network (AHPN) changes are currently in process. The old name may also show up on IT applications, but the billing will be changed on the back end immediately to match payments to be processed. What’s Next? Changing logos to the new name, updating signage and launching advertising, just to name a few! You will catch a glimpse of these exciting updates including new signage, ID badges, vehicle wraps, business cards, promotional materials, and many more.
