Kolter Homeowner Guide

Filling small cracks in concrete Frost or changes in the grade around your home can cause ¼ - to ½ -inch wide cracks in concrete. Such cracks lessen your home’s curb appeal but can become much more problematic if not sealed. To prevent minor annoyances from becoming large problems, check your concrete early every spring. Fill in any cracks with a concrete crack sealer.

2. Use a brush or vacuum to clean out any debris from the crack.

Follow these steps to fill small cracks in concrete:

1. If the edges of a crack are smooth, use a wire brush or chisel to roughen them.

3. Measure the crack to determine its depth. If it is less then ½ -inch deep, move to the next step. If it is more than ½ -inch deep, fill it to ¼ -inch from the surface with backer rod or sand.
