3 credits day; 3 credits evening. Is taught through a mix of methods, including lecture,
participatory simulations and problems, and Socratic method. There is no examination. Grading
is based on class participation in simulation, problem sets, and reflections. The focus of the
course is as in the title. It is the only International Environmental Law taught.
This seminar provides an introduction to both the underpinnings and the practice of international
environmental law. Students are introduced to the various ways in which international law is
ordered, the fundamentals of environmental concerns and responses thereto, and the framework
within which international environmental law must operate. Students participate in group
problem-solving activities as well as act as "ambassadors" during a mock treaty negotiation.
