Prof. Dwight Golann,
4 credits day; 4 credits evening.
This course teaches core skills which lawyers must employ in practice. Students examine the
lawyer? Client relationship in the context of realistic practice scenarios, learning how to perform
effective client interviewing and counseling through role plays. They also learn to negotiate on
behalf of clients, in both transactional and litigation situations. The course relies heavily on
roleplaying, class discussion and review of video; as a result, enrollment is limited. Students
write short journal entries periodically in which they are asked to reflect on what they have
learned through exercises. There is no paper or examination; grading is based on students‘
journals and class participation. May not also enroll in Interviewing and Counseling. Not offered
