Negotiation Seminar
Prof. Dwight Golann,
2 credits day; 2 credits evening.
This seminar will examine the theory and practice of negotiation, focusing primarily on the use
of bargaining to resolve legal disputes. Class time will consist of a mixture of role-plays,
discussion, and analysis of video, combined with short lectures by the teacher. Each student will
be asked to keep a weekly journal reflecting on their experience in classroom exercises. The final
grade will be based on the student's performance in exercises, class participation and, primarily,
their journal. Students will be required to spend 4 hours in a complex role play in lieu of two
class meetings. May not also enroll in Alternative Dispute Resolution.
