Overview

The course gives students an in-depth understanding of how computer technology works. They get

an insight into what goes on ‘behind the scenes’ in a computer. This includes a substantial amount of

computer programming in Python, JavaScript, and HTML, which many students find absorbing.

The course will develop critical thinking, analysis and problem-solving skills through the study of

computer programming. This gives students a fun and interesting way to develop these skills, which

can be transferred to other subjects and even applied in day-to-day life.

The course provides excellent preparation for higher study and employment in the field of computer

science. Students with a GCSE in Computer Science, who then progress to study the subject at A

Level or university, will have an advantage over others who are picking up the subject at these levels.

Students will need access to a computer at home. Python programming language is free to download
