Winter 2018

With the re-opening of the airport in St. Martin – famed for its

runway that has planes flying close to the beach – Canadian

airlines are resuming flights to the island that was hard-hit in

last year’s hurricane season. Starting Dec. 15, Air Canada will

have flights to the island twice weekly. Sunwing will resume

its flights in February, offering direct flights from Montreal

and Toronto. WestJet is already operating direct flights from

Toronto and Montreal.

Also, just in time for the cold Canadian winter, WestJet is

expanding its services with new routes out of Western Canada

direct to sunny locales. The new routes include direct flights

from Calgary to Montego Bay, Jamaica, and Saskatoon to

Orlando, Florida.

Want to do your own thing on the road, but don’t want to

spend your precious holiday time trying to figure out

on-the-ground transportation or the best places to stay?

Cue Cosmos Lite, an entirely new category of touring within

the Globus family of brands. Cosmos Lite gives travellers

the opportunity to set their own itinerary based on personal

interests and budget. Travellers can expect city-to-city deluxe

motorcoach transportation, a tour director to help ensure your

trip runs smoothly, hotel bookings and optional excursions,

such as cooking classes or bicycle tours. Travellers will have

access to the newly released mobile app, CosmosGO, with

tips and suggestions for exploring. For 2019, look for 10 new

itineraries in Spain, Portugal, Italy, England, Ireland, Scotland

and along the Danube.

Popular cruise line Royal Caribbean International has found a

way to make your holiday images that much more memorable

with a new tool that uses artificial intelligence (AI) to add a

soundtrack to your photos based on the content and mood of

your images. SoundSeeker is fun to use and currently available

on its website.

A newly upgraded Uniworld cruise ship will set sail in the spring

of 2019 bound to explore the culinary offerings of one of the

world’s most famous gastronomy destinations, France. The

S.S. Bon Voyage

, billed as a Super Ship with the Uniworld

Boutique River Cruise Collection, will sail the Dordogne and

Garonne rivers – regions known for stunning vineyards and

culinary delights. Onboard, the culinary theme continues

with the ship’s newly designed dining areas that will offer

chef-led demonstrations and cooking classes. A new bistro,

inspired by Bouillon Pigalle in Paris will be added at the bow

of the ship, serving up plates reflective of the local cuisine.

For a different kind of cruising experience, look for Crystal

Yacht Expedition Cruises which recently released itineraries

for its newest vessel,

Crystal Endeavor

. With 12- to 22-day

Crystal Endeavor

will be taking guests to some

destinations off the beaten path, including Japan, Russian

Far East, New Zealand and Antarctica. Depending on

the destination, expect excursions that include diving,

helicopter rides, Zodiac tours and hiking. The inaugural

sailing is a 17-day itinerary starting Aug. 10, 2020 exploring

the islands and natural environments of eastern Russia and

northern Japan.

Crystal Endeavor

will be the largest, most

spacious purpose-built polar class expedition yacht, with

room for 200 guests.
