Molecor enters Southeast Asia
water pipe market
Molecor
(SEA)
Sdn Bhd has
secured a project
to
manufacture
and market PVC-O
pipes under the
Hypro brand in the
Southeast
Asia
region.
The company is 65
per cent owned by
Fitters Diversified
Bhd, with Ricwil
(Malaysia)
Sdn
Bhd and Molecor
Tecnologia SL holding the remaining
25 per cent and 10 per cent stakes
respectively. The three parties signed an
agreement, witnessed by the Minister of
Energy, Green Technology and Water,
Datuk Dr Maximus Ongkili, during the
Asia Water 2014 Exhibition in Kuala
Lumpur.
The company is also investing about
RM80mn in capital expenditure to
set up the first phase of its PVC-O
manufacturing facility in Gebeng,
Kuantan, Malaysia. Manufacturing
operations are planned to begin by the
fourth quarter of 2014.
The plant will initially have three
production lines, with a total installed
capacity of up to 11,000 metric tons
per year. Its subsequent phase would
double the production.
The group plans to expand its production
capacity over the next three and a half
years locally as well as in Thailand
and Indonesia. The business will largely
serve governments and township
developers for both pipe laying and pipe
replacement.
Molecor Tecnologia developed and
patented the molecular orientation
technology that gives PVC-O pipes
the desired mechanical properties and
service life of up to 50 years.
PVC-O pipes, which are manufactured
in compliance with international
standards, are resistant to corrosion and
natural chemical substances that ensure
consistent fluid quality, making them
suitable for distributing high pressure
water from water treatment plants for
industrial and household usage.
Molecor Tecnologia SL CEO Ignacio
Muñoz commented, “PVC-O pipes
manufactured under Molecor technol-
ogy have a track record of effective
implementation in several countries
including Australia, Italy, Spain, Colombia
and Ecuador. The Hypro PVC-O pipe
market in Malaysia is promising.”

Seminar on choosing the right
NDT techniques
With more than 85 years of experience
in designing and manufacturing non-
destructive test instruments and
systems for the metals industry,
Magnetic Analysis Corp (MAC) is to
host a seminar later this year in South-
East Asia. The event will take place in
Shanghai, China, on 23 September.
Building on the success of the Echomac
®
rotary ultrasonic testers, the company
will be featuring a new spinning tube
ultrasonic test system at the seminar.
This system features a unique APC
(automatic pitch control) transducer
carrier that contains the water couplant
and follows and adjusts to the pitch of
the tube as it rotates through the tester.
This allows testing of a large range of
pipe sizes, including large diameters,
with minimal transducer adjustments
during size changeovers.
Because the transducers are under the
pipe, no tight fitting glands or shoes
are needed, resulting in lower water
circulation requirements, fewer wear
components and virtually no changes
required to the basic water tank on
size changeover. The spinning tube
transducer system can also be used for
testing tube ends, as well as for a retrofit
or upgrade of existing installations.
A Rotomac
®
eddy current rotary and coil
platform will also be on display.
Information will be presented on test
systems using a combination of more
than one type of test technology, a
requirement to meet many stringent
test standards such as API and ASTM,
as well as information on inspection of
specific products.
Knowledgeable field staff will provide
information in multiple languages on all
of the company’s products. Guests will
include vice president Dudley Boden;
Casey Powers, systems engineer;
Paloma Domenico, advertising manager;
David Terry, business development
manager for SE-Asia; and Jerry Zhu,
business development manager for
China.
