You may not realize that
eating poorly affects more
than just your figure. What
is often times missed is the
influence that eating healthy
has on your internal body
and ultimately on the quality
and length of life. The leading
cause of death in North Amer-
ica is Cardiovascular Disease
(
CVD). CVD is primarily caused
by the development of fatty
plaque build up in your arter-
ies. Plaque build up is directly
influenced by Western diets
that involve processed foods
and foods high in refined
sugars and saturated fats that
promote an inflammatory,
acidic state in the body. In
knowing that diet has such
a significant role to play in
the quality and length of life,
healthy food choices, even at
restaurants are important.
Here are some tips to help
you make healthy (but still
tasty) choices at a restaurant!
Drink up!
Before you eat anything start
off with a large glass of water.
A lot of the time your body
cannot tell the difference be-
tween being hungry or being
thirsty. Add lemon into your
water to improve alkalinity in
the body. Pass on the sugary
pop or juices and stick with
lemon water as your drink of
choice. This will save you a
few dollars as well as calories!

Tips For Making Healthy
Restaurant Choices
It is easy to have full control over what you
eat when you prepare and cook it yourself,
but how much control can you have when
you are in a restaurant? Meeting up with
friends to watch the game, celebrating a
birthday or an anniversary often takes place
in your favourite restaurant. When it comes
to dining out, what healthy choices do you
have? How “bad” can one splurge meal
really be anyway?
