speed of 183 mph, the Vanquish is truly a
super GT to be reckoned with.
As expected, Aston Martin has made
substantial economy and emission
improvements. Each external body
panel on the car is constructed solely
from carbon fibre, the first for an Aston
Martin model, which is beneficial for
mass reduction and limits the need for
additional individual body panels. The
panels have been carefully sculptured to
direct the airflow around the car, into the
engine and to help cool the braking system.
Marek Reichman, Aston Martin’s Design
Director said: “There are no restrictions
on form or shape when using carbon
fibre and the material allowed us to wrap
bodywork around the 20-inch wheels and
maintain the precise relationship between
the wheel and the bodywork.”
Interior
You will find when you sit inside the new
Vanquish, that the cabin is more spacious,
comfortable and more luxurious than
ever. The facia trim, now designed from a
single piece of material, stretches down the
whole centre stack, giving a uniform and
polished finish. The interior trim is available
in a wide selection of materials including
fine Bridge of Weir Luxmil Leather, Semi-
Aniline Leather and Alcantara. Drivers also
have the choice of a standard 2+0 or an
optional 2+2 for their seating comfort.
The steering has a speed-dependent
electronically controlled rack to give you
the utmost control on the open road
and drivers can choose between Normal,
Sport or Track on the adaptive suspension
system.A redesigned user interface boasts
a more user-friendly and ergonomic layout,
with technological updates on one of the
most advanced in-car systems available and
the luxury of a touch-screen mobile phone.
The newly designed DIM (Driver
Information Module) retains much of
the classic Aston Martin style but has a
more futuristic typeface and the revised
digital displays permanently show a digital
speedo and a trip computer that details
the remaining range and the odometer.
A new centre stack provides a more
elegant form with an ECU engine start
button and gear selection buttons while
in-car entertainment includes a brand
new infotainment system with capacitive
switching, Bang & Olufsen BeoSound
15-
speaker audio system, Garmin satellite
navigation system, a 6.5” LCD screen, iPod
and iPhone Integration and USB playback,
A2DP Bluetooth audio and phone
streaming andWi-Fi Hub5.
Exterior
Lean and elegant with improved agility and
dynamics, the new Aston Martin Vanquish
sets a good example for today’s luxury GT
cars. As well as the new flowing waistline,
elongated side strakes and LED light
blade rear clusters mentioned before, the
Vanquish also boasts a curvaceous and taut
form and newly designed ideas such as the
remarkable rear Aero Duct. Equipped with
bonnet vents, side strakes and a sculptured
roof, these essential qualities give the
muscular Vanquish an edgier character and
accentuate its extra performance.While it
has a more assertive stance,it is not overtly
aggressive in appearance and the sporting
dynamics, revealed by carbon fibre splitter,
light-catching carbon fibre side skirts and
imposing carbon fibre rear diffuser, makes
it appear more planted.
The new generation 20” Pirelli P
Zero tyres with lightweight alloy wheels
especially developed for the Vanquish have
a measurement of 255/35 ZR20 at the
front and 305/30 ZR20 at the rear. The
braking system features third generation
Brembo Carbon Ceramic Matrix (CCM)
brakes which delivers shorter stopping
distances with resistance to fade in the
most demanding driving conditions. The
CCM brakes are beneficial as they are
lighter than a conventional system, thus
reducing the weight of the car overall
and enhancing the performance of the
suspension.
Stepping IntoThe Future
The testing of the new Aston Martin
Vanquish at the Nardo Ring in northern
Italy and again at the Aston Martin test
centre at the notorious Nürburgring
track in Germany has proved the new
model’s capability in durability, high speed,
braking, DSC system, tyres and chassis set-
up. Designed and built at Aston Martin’s
