At
KTZ
this season there was a definite theme of lace, lace and more lace.
Beautiful cut out pieces of lace were the main aesthetic from the design trio
and it had never looked more striking, youthful and of course daring. Here
we saw a highly tailored and exceptionally different show as lace bodysuits
with peaked caps came spilling down the runway and the attitude of the
models enhanced the sassiness behind the collection. Lace was also seen in
the form of leggings, dresses (which were adorned with the most beautiful
oversized pearl necklaces), tops, swimwear and some alluring lace-up thigh
high boots. The collection oozed sexiness mixing up sheer fabrics and shiny
trousers to give the modern day punk girl a fairytale makeover.
The 1902 Joseph Conrad novella ‘The Heart of
Darkness’ was the inspiration for this season’s
Todd Lynn
collection.We saw nothing but beauty,
as gorgeous sandy coloured clothing opened the
show. For this collection Lynn collaborated with
artist Marcus James who brought us sandy prints
upon dresses. There was acute pleating, soft folding
and an influx of skin as bandeau tops were given
a new shape, and dresses and trousers came with
splits. The colour scheme however may have been
simple, yet it accentuated the femininity of this
collection. There was shape, structure and above all
else a creeping dramatic undertone.
