Drive in comfort and safety
Machines can often be complex and difficult to run. The safety
criteria imposed by present standards make them even more
difficult to manage: operators and production managers must
have extensive knowledge, understanding everything from the
mechanical to the electronic, from oil hydraulics and pneumatic to
automation theory.
In recognition of this, Engineering Future Automazione Flessibile
Srl (EFAF), Italy, has designed its machines to be as comfortable,
simple and safe to use as possible.
One example of this is the use of touch screens to enter parameters
for the operation of its coiler (coil length and height, cable
diameter, number of coils per order, and minimum length per
waste), and palletiser (number of coils per row and per layer, and
number of layers per pallet).
Accessories produced by the company include spark testers, lump
testers and labelling machines.

Spanish spoolers
Teurema, Spain, designs, manufactures and supplies equipment
for the production of ferrous wire such as cold rolling lines,
multi-pass dry drawing lines, horizontal and vertical spoolers,
static coilers, pay-offs, and take-up lines for treatment plants.
The company’s latest developments in the take-up of wire
include horizontal spoolers suitable for handling spools with up
to 5,000kg of wire, and single vertical spoolers with speeds of
up to 14m/s.
The company also produces cold rolling lines with double
automatic spoolers that can work with fixed or collapsible
spools of up to 5 tons of wire. These spoolers comprise a
platform with positions for two spools: one being filled and the
other one empty in stand by. Once the preset weight or wire
length is reached, the platform rotates, introducing the empty
spool, threads the wire on it and starts automatically.
