TE Connectivity has introduced its model
GII, the latest addition to the series of
Amp-O-Lectric terminating machines.
Lighting in the under-cabinet and target
area has been improved, with the crimp
quality monitor (CQM II) still located at eye
level for bench-top use. The model GII is
thought to be one of the quietest machines
available, and also features improved
guarding to meet applicable European and
domestic safety requirements.
All model GII versions include precision
adjustment for crimp height. By simply
resettingadial, an operator can adjust crimp
height in 0.013mm [0.0005"] increments over
a 0.457mm [0.018"] range.
The controls will also detect and report errors
in themachine and stop cyclingwhen a bad
crimp is detected. The operator must then
push the reset button to continue. The GII will
accept all existing TE miniature applicators.
Structured cabling
Leviton has announced the release of its new
structured cabling system, Atlas-X1. Atlas-X1
is thought to be the industry’s first system to
support shielded applications from category
8 to 5e and UTP applications from category
6A to 5e, all from one unified connectivity
platform.
The Atlas-X1 system has been tested and
confirmed by Intertek, an independent
electrical testing lab, to meet the current
draft 2.0E of the TIA-568-C.2-1 category 8
proposed standard (October 2014). The
pending standard defines performance and
testing requirements up to 2GHz for category
8 cabling systems to support the operation
of IEEE 802.3bq 40GBASE-T applications up
to 30 meters.
“Members of the TIA TR-42.7 subcommittee
are working together toward the
development of a new cabling category
standard driven by end-user needs,” said
Antoine Pelletier, project engineer – ICT
cabling products testing, Intertek.
“The successful category 8 draft standard
compliance of the Atlas-X1 solution
shows the technical feasibility of copper
twisted-pair cabling bandwidth increase,
and the achievement of a milestone toward
the future 40GBASE-T industry standard.”
“We are excited to announce the new
Atlas-X1systemhasbeenconfirmedbyathird
party to achieve category 8 performance,”
said Ross Goldman, executive vice president
and general manager, Leviton Network
Solutions.
