Kindness on Wheels

Myron “Mike” Silver has been doing acts of loving kindness

for the residents of the Jewish Home for more than 60 years.

His love for our residents and his continued involvement with

our Foundation has created even more opportunities for him to

help again!

In the last several months, Mike and his family made a special

gift to support the purchase of a new van (

residents of the Jewish Home, and did so with the same love and

devotion to the work of the Jewish Home he felt decades ago.

In making this special gift, Mike noted, “I was happy to be able

to give to our residents in an ‘everyday way.’ It’s another way to

improve the quality of life for our residents.”

Jewish Home receives

5 star CMS Rating

The Jewish Home of Rochester has been ranked among

the top ten percent of nursing homes nationwide by the

Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services’ (CMS)

Five-Star Quality Rating, earning 5 out of 5 stars.

“This is a reflection of the hard work and dedication to

high-quality care our staff provides to the people we are

privileged to serve,” said Michele Schirano, Senior Vice

President and Administrator.

Ratings are based on more than 180 regulatory

standards designed to protect residents, including

having superior staffing levels, and achieving high

performance on 16 clinical quality measures. CMS

created this rating system to help consumers, their

families, and caregivers compare nursing homes.

“We’re proud to be recognized as an elite skilled

nursing provider. However, our commitment to

excellence and innovation does not stop here,” said

Mike King. “We’re focused each and every day on

improving the care experience and ensuring that we

are providing an atmosphere that supports

meaningful lives for our residents.”

named a winner

of the Rochester Metro Area 2017

Top Workplaces Award

Jewish Senior

Life

was recently named a 2017 Top

Workplace by The Rochester Democrat and Chronicle.

The Top Workplaces lists are based solely on the results

of a confidential employee feedback survey administered

by WorkplaceDynamics, LLC, a leading research firm

that specializes in organizational health and workplace

improvement. Several aspects of workplace culture were

measured, including Alignment, Execution, and Connection,

just to name a few.

Jewish Senior

Life

was also recognized with the “Doers

Award,” having received standout ratings by our employees

for “doing things efficiently and well.”

“We’re honored to receive the Top Workplaces award,

especially because the judges were our own employees.

A heartfelt ‘thank you’ to our staff, who are making such a

difference in the lives of those we serve,” said Mike King.

“Older adults are able to live even more meaningful lives

with choice and dignity when they’re supported by a team

that feels like family. More than just caring for people,

we care about them.”
