Schuler receives Volvo cars

quality excellence award

SCHULER has received the prestigious

Volvo Cars Quality Excellence (VQE)

Award. Axel Meyer, head of Schuler’s

service division, accepted the trophy

on behalf of the company from Kjell-

Åke Eriksson, vice-president indirect

purchasing, at Volvo’s headquarters in

Gothenburg, Sweden.

“We are proud to have become a

carefully chosen VQE partner,” Mr

Meyer stated. “This award recognises

our successful long-term partnership

with our customer Volvo and is a

special mark of appreciation for Schuler

and the dedicated work of all of our

employees.”

The VQE Award’s fundamental

requirements include environmental

certification according to ISO 14001

and quality certification pursuant

to ISO 9001 for indirect material

suppliers. VQE also comprises stable

delivery performance over time and

a high service level. Furthermore,

the evaluation in order to qualify

for the award included categories

such as global ability, risk manage-

ment, continuous improvements and

cost reduction processes. Schuler has

been able to meet all of Volvo’s high

expectations.

Schuler is a technological and market

leader in forming equipment. The

company offers cutting edge presses,

automation, dies, process know-how

and services for the entire metal-

forming industry and lightweight vehicle

construction.

Its clients include car manufacturers

and their suppliers, as well as

companies in the forging, household

equipment, packaging, energy and

electrical industries.

Schuler also produces coin minting

presses and supplies systems

solutions for the aerospace, railway

and large pipe industries. In fiscal year

2014, Schuler posted sales of €1.18bn.

Mathey Dearman appoints Michael Moore

USA-based Mathey Dearman has

announced the addition of Michael

Moore to the Mike Charles and

Associates, Inc team.

Mr Moore started his welding

industry career in 1990 with Lincoln

Electric where he worked in research

and development, manufacturing and

technical sales. He also worked at

ESAB in territory, regional and national

sales as well as business development.

His latest position was vice-president

of sales with ArcOne. He describes

himself as being customer focused

and technically competent and has

experience in automation, robotics,

welding processes, and respiratory and

safety. He is a member of the GAWDA

safety committee and has a degree in

physics from The Citadel and a degree

in non-destructive testing from Cowley

College.

He continues to advance his technical

knowledge by working on his Masters

in welding engineering from Ohio State

University and planned to take the CWI

exam in early 2016.

Mike Charles and Associates is

based in Mooresville, North Carolina,

USA, and has been in business since

1999. The firm prides itself as being

customer needs driven. Mr Charles has

been in the welding industry since 1977

and brings experience working both at

the distributor level and for manufactur-

ers. Mathey Dearman claims to be a

leading authority on preparing pipe

and vessels to be joined together by

welding. Since the 1930s Mathey has

been designing and building cutting

and bevelling machines and clamping,

aligning and reforming systems for pipe

and tubing.

Over the years it has also developed

other essential tools and equipment.

These products include measuring and

layout tools, gauges and inspection

devices.
