TMK ships 13-Chrome steel pipes with premium
connections
TMK, a leading oil and gas steel pipe
producer, has completed a shipment
of tubing with TMK FMT premium
connections to a Rosneft subsidiary
operating the Chkalovskoye field.
The pipes were made from 13-Chrome
steel, which is highly resistant to harsh
environments and is effective against
sweet corrosion. TMK says that it is the
first Russian company to manufacture
OCTG pipes from this type of steel.
“The development of new types of
products required by our customers is
very important for TMK,” commented
Alexander Shiryaev, TMK CEO. “A very
limited number of global premium pipe
producers are able to make OCTG
from 13-Chrome steel. By starting this
production at its facilities, TMK has
now become part of this elite club and
has got access to a very important
segment of the global premium pipe
market.” TMK operates 23 production
sites in the United States, Russia,
Romania and Kazakhstan. Around half
of the company’s steel pipe production
capacity is dedicated to the production
of high margin oil country tubular goods.
In 2010, TMK’s pipe sales totalled
approximately 4mn tonnes, shipped to
customers in more than 65 countries.
