J I A B C DThatcham has evidence of occupation from
prehistoric times and is strongly claimed
to being the oldest continuously inhabited
place in Britain.
The town had a period of great prosperity in the
early 14th century when the chapel of St Thomas
the Martyr was constructed. The iconic building
still survives today as the Old Bluecoat School on
the A4.
Thatcham is an ever growing town with significant
industry. The town centre is home to many
independent traders, supermarkets, a weekly
market every Friday in the Broadway and many
pubs and restaurants.
Thatcham is a great place to visit with fascinating
buildings and a fabulous range of shops and
businesses, many of which feature there adverts
