fit set descriptions, such as “someone who has completed a
marathon”. It was a great opportunity to socialise and better know
the breadth of people who make up our wonderful profession.
The competitive nature of speech pathologists came to the fore
in the next activity, when participants were split into six groups
and asked to generate as many 4+ letter words as possible from
the nine letters provided. In the spirit of being communication
specialists, the nine letter word was etymological, meaning
“pertaining to history of the origin of words”. The winning team
compiled over 65 words.
A big thank you to the other members of the organising committee;
Jane-Elise Healey, Gillian Dickman, Pam Thuan and Jo Wood for
the many hours that went into making this event such a success.
We look forward to the Branch’s next social event!

The Welcome to 2014
social event held on 28
February was a great success! The event was an
opportunity to consume delicious food, relax on a Friday
night and most of all, network and socialise with other
Victorian Branch members through a variety of activities.
The night began with a drink on arrival and an introduction
about the aims of the ICP2014 by Jo Wood from National
Office. A human scavenger hunt was then played, in
which participants had to find someone at the event who
