BUDGET HIGHLIGHTS
The FY 14-15 Adopted Budget is increasing by just over $1.1 million, or 6.3%.
In FY 14-15, Parks and Recreation is transferring custodial services responsibilities for community centers
and other parks facilities to Engineering & Inspections to take advantage of operational and supervisory
efficiencies.
The FY 14-15 budget includes a $30 increase in the minimum permit fee for building, electrical, mechanical
and plumbing permits from $45 to $75, putting the City in the mid range for that type of permit cost among
peer cities and improving cost recovery.
An additional $254,927 was added to the E&I budget for FY 14-15 to support operations at new, improved or
repurposed City facilities, including the McNairy Library, Griffin Recreation Center, and Reedy Fork Fire
Station.
In support of the City’s effort to maintain the current property tax rate, the department is eliminating three (3)
positions, including one (1) administrative position and two (2) Surveying Technicians. The technician
reduction will reduce the surveying section by 25%, from 8 to 6 employees.
