Soil and rainwater system for
Snow Hill development
Iron technology firm Saint-Gobain PAM
UK, part of materials company Saint-
Gobain, has secured its second phase
of orders for its Ensign soil and rainwater
system for installation at the prestigious
new 96,000m
2
Snow Hill mixed use
development in Birmingham, UK.
The development by Ballymore has
been on-site for over three years, with
the orders for the first three buildings
on Snow Hill 1 being supplied by Saint-
Gobain PAM UK in 2009. The latest
orders of Ensign Soil are being delivered
by Drain Center to C&M Mechanical of
Leicester. The system is for installation
on the soil and vent stacks.
Phase 1 of the Snow Hill development
was up, running and fully occupied
in just four years, and it is planned to
make Snow Hill the largest commercial
leasing outside of London for many
years, attracting world-class business
tenants. The development includes
office, residential, leisure and retail uses
set around new landscaped gardens
and piazzas.

main contractor is Balfour Beatty and
the M&E contractor is C A Southers,
who sub-let the plumbing to C&M Mech
of Leicester.”
Ensign comprises pipes and fittings
from 50 to 600mm diameter for above
ground applications and 100, 150-
600mm diameter for below ground.
The system can be connected by cast
iron mechanical joints or push-fit joints
for both above and below ground
applications.
Approved to BS EN 877, Ensign offers
specifiers, contractors and installers a
fit-and-forget system.
