ULSTER
RUGBY
TRIPLE THREAT
Captaining the side in the season’s opener against Leinster,
South African born Strauss is a powerful runner with the ball and
is often seen crashing through defences, creating opportunities
for others.
He is also a deadly finisher himself when given a sniff of the
whitewash as shown by last week’s quick thinking try.
The 27-year-old signed for Glasgow Warriors in September 2012
after receiving rave reviews as captain of the Lions in Super XV
and Golden Lions in the Currie Cup.
He skippered his men to victory in the 2011 edition of the latter
competition, winning cult status with supporters.
His peers named him Currie Cup Player of the Tournament for a
series of outstanding displays, characterised by impressive ball-
carrying and a high-octane approach to his duties at the base
of the scrum - something he has brought with him to Scotland’s
biggest city.
JOSH
STRAUSS
The lightening quick winger has quickly become a fan favourite
since his arrival at the Warriors in 2011 and now has more than
50 appearances to his name.
The 26-year-old made the short hop across the Irish sea from
Ulster and boasts a rich and varied back story, having been born
and raised in Nashville, Tennessee before moving to Northern
Ireland via a spell in Dubai, where his father was based for work.
Seymour’s eclectic heritage means he’s Scottish qualified, his
mother, Sue, being a born and bred Glaswegian.
As well as impressing at Scotstoun he has also shone on the
international stage, notching two tries against Japan in the 2013
viagogo Autumn Tests and one against France in the 2014 RBS
Six Nations.
TOMMY
SEYMOUR
The 26 year-old Fijian has become something of a sensation in
Glasgow with Nakarawa’s unique range of skills shining bright.
Capped for Fiji as well as Fijian 7s he has phenomenal ball
carrying and offloading skills proving to be a handful for
opposition defences.
The second-row, who can also play in the back-row, joined from
the Fiji Barbarians rugby club in the summer of 2013.
Possessing 21 caps for his country and representing his
country at the 2011 Rugby World Cup in New Zealand, he has
quickly built up a reputation for being a ferocious competitor.
He has played in six IRB Sevens World Series events, scoring
four tries for the Fiji national sevens team and was part of the
squad that finished third at the Rugby World Cup Sevens in
Russia in 2013.
