IASA Video Library available on website
The IASA Video Library is a virtual resource containing video recordings by experts in education.
Best practices for educational instruction and curriculum will be highlighted. In addition, the Library
will feature keynote speakers at IASA Conferences. Click

Curriculum Writing project on Lincoln, Race and Slavery
The Illinois State Board of Education, Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum and Illinois
Supreme Court Historic Preservation Commission collaborate to offer engaging educational opportunities
to Illinois’ educators interested in Illinois’ history. This year the topic is “Lincoln, Race and Slavery”. Events
will be held in Springfield at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum on Friday, October 24
through Monday, October 27. Ten Illinois educators will be selected by application to participate, interact
with local and national experts on the topic, and use primary and secondary sources to create middle
school and high school lesson plans aligned to the new Illinois Learning Standards. These lessons will be

TRS to host Annual Fall meetings to explain Retirement process/benefits
TRS will be hosting statewide meetings this Fall designed to explain the retirement process and to provide
you with information about disability, death and insurance benefits. The meetings have been prepared for
Tier I members.
You are a member of Tier I in the Teachers’ Retirement System of the State of
Illinois (TRS) if you first contributed to TRS before Jan. 1, 2011 or you have pre-existing creditable
service with a reciprocal pension system prior to Jan. 1, 2011.
The meetings are being conducted in
cooperation with regional offices of education and selected school districts and are scheduled to begin at

In Memoriam
Dr. Edward L. Olds III passed away August 18. He was employed with several area school districts as a
school administrator for the past 34 years retiring out of LaGrange School District 105 in June of 2002.
