Shakopee Police Department 2025 Annual Report
POLICE CHAPLAINS
By Sergeant Josh Davis
The Shakopee Police Department is proud to introduce our volunteer police chaplains, a dedicated group of individuals who serve as a vital source of compassion, support, and care for both our community members and our officers. Chaplains play an important role in public safety by providing a calm, supportive presence during some of life’s most difficult and emotional moments. Our chaplains respond alongside officers when requested, offering a listening ear, emotional support, and spiritual care to individuals and families experiencing crisis, trauma, loss, or significant stress. Their role is to meet people where they are with empathy, respect, and understanding regardless of background, beliefs, or circumstances. In addition to serving the community, police chaplains also provide confidential support to our officers and department staff. Policing can be a demanding and emotionally challenging profession, and chaplains help promote officer wellness by being available to listen, encourage, and support those who serve our city every day.
We are incredibly grateful for our volunteer chaplains and their willingness to serve. Their commitment, compassion, and care strengthen our department and enhance the services we provide to the Shakopee community. We thank them for the meaningful role they play in supporting both public safety and community well-being.
