Shakopee Police Department 2025 Annual Report
COMMUNITY POLICING
By Stephanie Janke, Crime Prevention Specialist
Community policing isn’t just something we talk about — it’s who we are. At the Shakopee Police Department, we’re committed to serving with integrity, protecting our residents, and partnering with our community to make Shakopee an even better place to live, work, and play. Real community engagement happens when it’s consistent, genuine, and intentional and that’s exactly how we approach it. Every conversation, every event, and every connection helps us build trust and strengthen the bond between our officers and the community we serve.
JANUARY January 27–February 7 | Diaper Drive In honor of the late Janna Wood, the department’s former Crime Prevention Specialist, Shakopee Police hosted its 9th Annual Diaper Drive. All diapers were given to Shakopee Community Assistance to help families in need.
FEBRUARY
February | Coffee Chats Throughout the year, officers visit with residents of our various senior living properties and the Community Center to discuss current scams we are seeing, what’s happening in Shakopee, and any other questions they want to address. We always enjoy these visits! February 15 | Polar Plunge Shakopee PD raised almost $6,000 and several officers and support staff jumped into the icy waters of Prior Lake to show support for the Special Olympics.
MARCH
March 13 | DARE Graduation After a 10-week curriculum led by Shakopee Police focused on empowering students to make safe responsible choices, the SACS 5th grade students graduated in front of their families, parents and several Shakopee officers and staff.
